The listing price is only one part of an international purchase. Build a landed-cost estimate before ordering so a low product price does not hide an expensive parcel.

Estimate before you buy
Record each item’s price, estimated weight and likely packaging volume. Divide a tentative freight estimate across the items to calculate an approximate landed cost. Final packing changes weight and dimensions, so use a range rather than one exact number.
Where estimates go wrong
Bulky low-cost items, shoe boxes and protective packaging can make freight exceed the item price. Currency conversion and payment provider charges also affect the result. Avoid comparing services using a single headline rate without matching the same parcel, route and options.
Keep a final cost record
After shipment, update your record with packed weight, freight, discounts and destination charges. Better historical data improves the estimate for your next haul.
